As temperatures seem to be staying pretty toasty here in Orlando, things at Gaylord Palms Orlando are about to get real chilly as they bring back “Christmas at Gaylord Palms”. The prestigious hotel here in Orlando opened their doors today welcome around 40 artisans straight from China who will be steadily preparing for excitable crowds for over the holiday season. Here they are going to spend the next few weeks carving and manipulating 2 million pounds of ice to create an icy wonderland that guests from all over can visit. Back for their 15th consecutive year, ICE! at Gaylord Palms will be opening their doors on November 21st and remain open throughout the holiday season until January 7th, 2018. This years theme is Christmas around the World. Guests will parka up and take a trip into temperatures reaching a whopping 9 degrees! Don’t forget to pack some thick socks and gloves. The hotel will provide a very lovely thick parka but closed toed shoes are highly recommended.
Gaylord Palms have a few extra treats prepared for recurring guests who love to visit the attraction. This year they have included a brand new Christmas Tree Trail. It can be found in the Everglades area of the hotel and will feature 9 trees representing different traditions from around the World including Africa, USA, and France. Guests will be able to see authentic decorations on each of the trees and read up about the various cultures and traditions from each place. Also, new this season is the Build-a-bear workshop scavenger hunt and the Reindeer Express Post Office where children are welcome to come by, write up their Christmas wishes and then they will see it postmarked and stamped to head to the North Pole. This is also included in the price of admission. Some several attractions return such as Mrs. Claus Christmas Traditions. When Mrs. Claus leaves to head back to the North Pole, she is leaving behind some new friends ready to entertain with a brand new “Jack and Jackie Frost: Warm up the Winter” show. Also returning this season will be the opportunity to grab some breakfast with Charlie Brown and friends. This year, however, Linus is excited to join you all for breakfast!
As if this was not enough, the new Joyful Atrium Light Show will be lighting up the evenings and the ALL NEW concert series Sounds of the Season which will feature groups such as Voctave, Gaylord Palms STARS and the Orlando Gay Chorus. It will also have a special collaboration between Opera Orlando, Orlando Philharmonic and the Orlando Ballet. This will be a separately ticketed event however, those attending one of the many concert series will get to experience ICE! at no extra charge and the doors will stay open extra to make it the perfect night to come on in, grab some food at one of the many great restaurants, catch a concert and then take a walk through ICE! to finish out your day.
To accommodate everyone’s likes, Gaylord Palms are introducing Play and Save passes where you will have the opportunity to pick the pass that best suits your entertainment needs all the way to snow tubing right in the hotel!
And just to finish out an already exciting season at Gaylord Palms, no holiday would be complete without a handmade gift. So be sure to check out Painting With a Twist where you can purchase a canvas and paint your very own holiday scene.
